Most of C’s ambiguities arise from its declaration syntax and cast operator. I believe many of these design choices made sense when C was developed. I haven’t tracked down all of those explanations myself, so it would be helpful if a reader could clarify why a particular feature was designed that way, and what kind of parser they had in mind that made it practical.
